ABC Hangar
Beloit, WI
Project Overview:
Morse Electric teamed up with CCI on the Design Build for the ABC Hangar project. It was a first of its kind for veteran project manager Mark Mezera and required a thorough understanding of the National Electrical Code related to hangar installations. Aircraft storage areas fall into various classified divisions, restricting methods for wiring underground and adjacent to the aircraft. Additionally, these areas are surrounded by 3-hour fire walls. All conduit and cabling passing to other areas of the building required a listed fire stopping assembly.
The hangar bays were constructed using precast concrete – providing some advantages for the owner including increased construction speed, cost savings, durability, maintenance, and aesthetics. Morse Electric had a crew on site to install conduit within the concrete panels during the pouring process. This was a complex process that required meticulous planning. Once a panel was complete, conduit stubs were taped off with different color tape so electricians installing at the hangar would know the intended use.
