Stainless Tank & Equipment (STE) is a large tanker manufacturer founded over 50 years ago in South Central Wisconsin. In early summer of 2023, Morse Electric began working on the Design Build of the electrical and data installations for their new manufacturing facility and crews were onsite by December that year. Morse Electric’s scope of work included the installation of the fire alarm system, raceway and cabling for the card access/security systems for the core and shell build out, and process power including main power feeds, convenience power, and ethernet to hundreds of workstations. This is a fast-paced project. It took approximately eight months to go from installing the first precast wall section to the substantial completion of the core and shell in November 2024. Morse Electric crews will be onsite completing the process portion of the project through the summer of 2025.
Electrical Room
Busway Installation
Four electrical rooms serve the STE facility. Three electrical rooms provide 3000A service (each) and the fourth provides 2000A service.
Morse Electric crews installed nearly 2,800’ of 1600A rated busway to feed equipment drops in the production area. They also installed seven IDF cabinets that provide ethernet for wireless access points, machinery, card access devices, and security cameras.
Conference Room
Lobby
184′ Linear Lighting Runs
The conference rooms feature custom linear light fixtures suspended between acoustical cloud panels. They are also equipped with large TVs, cameras, speakers, and microphones to accommodate for Teams meetings. Morse Electric provided all power, lighting, data, and A/V rough-in for each of the four large conference rooms.
The lobby features 48” diameter pendant fixtures and one linear fixture spanning the length of the mural, which grabs customers’ attention as soon as they enter.
Continuous linear lighting runs the length of the first and second floor office corridors. The fixtures are made up of several smaller segments and total 184’ in total length. The installation required close coordination with other trades to ensure mounting locations were available for the hangers.
Aerial View During Construction
To symbolize STE’s American made products, the owners installed a 40’ x 80’ American flag atop a 130’ flagpole. Illuminated by six lights producing a combined total of 150,000 lumens, the flag can be seen for miles in all directions!
FUN FACTS ABOUT THIS PROJECT
STE’s facility is comprised of over 350,000 square feet of production and office space.
Morse Electricians worked in excess of 43,000 manhours completing this project.
Morse Electricians supplied power to 100+ automated tools and 150+ hand welding stations.
MEET THE FOREMAN
Zach Schreiner (C) was the General Foreman for the STE project. He relied on his two right-hand men, Foreman Ethan Johnson (L) and Foreman Jake Wagner (R), to help manage the project. Together, the trio brings over 34 years of electrical experience to the project.
This was Zach’s first project as General Foreman. Even though the project seemed straight forward on the surface, there were many challenges that arose during construction. He credits Ethan and Jake for their outstanding abilities as foreman that kept the crew moving in the right direction.
Zach would like to thank the crew for demonstrating tremendous adaptability throughout the project. Their flexibility and willingness to work overtime as needed avoided work stoppage and maintained the project schedule.
Lastly, Zach would like to thank Project Executive Mark Schattschneider for his attention to detail, providing critical information as quickly as possible, and mentoring him throughout this learning experience.
