The Youth Apprenticeship program has been a life-changing opportunity for local high school senior, Brady. Since he was young, Brady’s dreamed of becoming an IBEW journeyman electrician.
Initially unsure of what to expect, Brady approached the program with an open mind and a strong desire to learn. He was paired with mentor Scott, a skilled panel electrician with 20 years of experience. While Scott taught Brady many of the technical skills essential for success in the industry, the most valuable lessons were about the learning process itself – how mistakes are a natural part of growth and, more importantly, that they can be fixed. For Brady, each mistake became a chance to learn, building his confidence as he identified what went wrong and worked to correct it.
One memorable instance occurred early in Brady’s apprenticeship when a small calculation error caused a backplate to be ¼” off. Though it seemed like a minor issue, the mistake ultimately stopped production. Instead of viewing it as a failure, Scott guided Brady through understanding what happened and how to resolve it. By the time Brady took on his first solo build, he felt confident in his abilities and ready to take on the challenge.
A highlight of Brady’s apprenticeship has been the positive culture at The Morse Group. From his first day, he felt welcomed in the panel shop, observed the importance of treating employees with respect, and learned that hard work truly pays off. Brady is grateful for the opportunity to learn from such a talented and supportive group of professionals.
After completing the apprenticeship, Brady plans to continue his journey by pursuing an electrical apprenticeship with IBEW.
