BELOIT, WI
ABC SUPPLY

ABC Supply Company’s $30.5 Million New Central Office Project consists of a 132,000 square-foot, 4-story office building that will initially house 270-300 employees. The building has the future capacity to house 600 ABC employees.

BUILDING A NEW CENTRAL OFFICE

Work began on ABC NSC2 in May of 2019. The project is on schedule and will be turned over to the owner in the coming weeks. Morse Electric’s scope of work for this design build project included all the line and low voltage system wiring (data, security, HVAC control, paging system, fire alarm, elevators and lighting control) as well as backup generator, UPS and electric car charging station installations.

The 785-gallon diesel generator fuel tank measures 40” wide x 42” tall x 15’ long and weighs 2,302 lbs. when empty

More than 20 different types of light fixtures were installed in the ABC NSC2 building that ranged from basic fixtures to elaborate decorative fixtures in the lobby, lunch room and restrooms. Morse electricians also installed a 200 kW diesel backup generator with a 785-gallon fuel tank. That is enough fuel to keep the building operational for 48-hours without utility power. Critical Data is backed up by a 50KVA UPS system.

INSIDE ABC NSC 2

Work is complete on the VFD setup and lighting control. The boilers are in full operation providing heat to the building. Work in each of these rooms had to be carefully coordinated between trades. This is especially chal- lenging on design build projects. Masters integrated the boiler and HVAC control systems and Morse electricians completed the wiring. The central lighting controls system was fully installed and commissioned by Morse Electric. Morse teamed up with Convergint Technologies to provide the security and surveillance systems for the building. Outside the building, Morse electricians are installing two car charging stations – a first on ABC’s Beloit campus. They will be ready to plug into when the employees arrive.

MEET THE FOREMAN

Jason Grenawalt was the foreman for ABC NSC2. Jason has been with Morse Electric for 10 years and has been a foreman for 7 years. Jason enjoys the early phase of construction and developing a plan to lead the team from start to close-out. The planning stage of a design build job is particularly challenging and rewarding. As the foreman, Jason put his years of expertise to work providing input on the means, method and installation for the job. “The foreman can have a big impact on the overall design.”
